went out exploring Krakow today without a tour group!! a friend and I both really wanted to go to Massolit Bookshop (and we were AMAZED when we found the not-so-secret entrance to the back of the shop, where the bulk of the books were), so we shopped there a bit and then explored Rynek Główny for a bit. Dinner at a bar mleczny instead of the dining hall, dessert at one of the many ice cream shops in the area, and then a quick trip into the Sukiennice to kill time since ice cream isn’t allowed on the tramwaj.
(AND THEN I WAS V NERVOUS ON THE TRAMWAJ because the ticket machine wouldn’t print me a ticket and i didn’t want to be caught by the ticket patrol ; ; )
(also I successfully ordered my ice cream without switching to English, I’m getting better at this)

Story of the day:
This morning, we woke up thirty minutes before our train was supposed to leave.
Ran to the station in the rain.
Magically made the train, passed out the entire two-hour ride, and somehow woke up right as we were supposed to get off at our stop (and almost had the doors shut on us).
Came to a realization that we got off at the wrong stop about ten minutes later, and would also be missing our bus to the main city.
Bought new tickets, sat at the station and waited two hours for our new train to come.
But… we woke up late because we stayed up until 4am wandering around Prague with our new friends from Michigan, which has been one of our favorite nights on this trip thus far.
The rain kept us cool during our sprint to the station.
The man who sat next to us on the train (and got off at the same stop) was unbelievably kind, and took time out of his day to make sure the crazy Americans were able to find their way okay.
Ate snacks & laughed about the whole situation during our wait at the station.
And now currently sitting on the train realizing that no matter how crazy or unfortunate our situations have been or can get, we’re still so happy (and lucky) to be here.
God, we’re exhausted. And we probably smell really bad too. But life is pretty good right about now, I’d say

Budynek Collegium Broscianum obok kościoła Świętych Apostołów mieści różne kierunki Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego. Na pierwszym piętrze pobieraliśmy nauki filozofii. Aby otrząsnąć się z nawałnicy problemów ontologiczno scientystycznych rozsiewanych przez prof. Augustynka i przejść do świetnego wykładu prof. Stróżewskiego z historii filozofii udawałem się na ulicę Kanoniczą i siadywałem z książka na podwórzu jakiejś kamienicy. Nie było wtedy zwyczaju zamykania bram. Można było sobie wybrać dowolnie co komu pasowało. Letnią porą ogród Muzeum Archeologicznego był otwarty, dostępny bez opłat i pusty. Muszę przyznać, że do obcowania z książkami w przerwach pomiędzy zajęciami słabo mi się sprawdzał. Coś w nim było za bardzo angażującego uwagę. Renesansowe krużganki na Kanoniczej były dużo lepsze w tej funkcji.
Trzeba stwierdzić, że większość ludzi z tych możliwości nie korzystała. Towarzystwo raczej wolało przesiadywać w kawiarni Senackiej na rogu ulic Grodzkiej i Senackiej. Tłok był potworny. Aby zdobyć miejsce przy stoliku trzeba było długo czekać w kolejce. Gdy już komuś udało się zdobyć stolik to siedzieliśmy cały dzień. Skład zmieniał się falami zależnie od tego jakie zajęcia były akurat na uczelni. Głównym tematem rozmów był problemat ‘co by tu robić aby nic nie robić‘ ewentualnie rozpatrywane było zagadnienie metodologiczne ‘nigdy nie używaj słowa nigdy‘. Pytanie jak dojść do prawdy nie było w modzie ani na zajęciach uniwersyteckich ani też kawiarnianych. Dla dyskutowania takich problemów były inne miejsca, ale o tem potem przy osobnej okazji.
Powroty z nocnych imprez też wyglądały inaczej. Smok pod Wawelem zionął ogniem w regularnych odstępach nikogo nie pytając o zdanie. Piękne widowisko w pogodną letnią noc. Dzisiaj za wszystko trzeba płacić. Aby wydał z siebie płomienie należy mu wysłać płatnego esemesa. Sterowany komórką to nie żaden potwór tylko jakaś dziwaczna zabawka. Wszystko jest niby takie samo, ale jakieś inne jakby oglądane przez szybkę, Łapie nas nostalgia. Z istoty i etymologii wynika przecież, że to bolesna pamięć.
